Awesome bar in Venice
Very neighborhoody, very casual, interesting bathroom wallpaper! I've hit this place many times across two decades. Although at times the clientele gets snotty, generally most people here are pretty relaxed and not unfriendly. Good bar to take a female friend!
OMG great place to finish my Weekend b4 going home
So I went to LA and stayed an extra day instead of heading back to Vegas. We went toa movie and then we decided lets go get a drink. Didn't want to go to WEHO. Was taken to this bar, let me tell you we drove up and I thought.. OMG I don't think I am going to like this place. I walked in and what a cure place, people and goodtimes. Great way to end my LA trip on a Sunday with friends and family.
I love this bar
The Roosterfish has a friendly and approachable cast of regulars, a lovely location a couple blocks from the beach, and a nice neighborhoody feel. Many of the guys have been frequenting the Roosterfish for ages and may willingly explain its history to you if you ask. The crowd ranges from no frills blue collar guys to the uniquely Venice successful bohemian/artist types. The bar also has a nice patio to enjoy the warm LA nights. A very reasonable alternative to the sugary glitz of WeHo.
Roosterfish is the Best Gay Bar in California!
How do I LOVE Roosterfish? Let me count the ways: cool bartenders who are not bitches, affordable drinks, sexy bar patrons, a great jukebox with lots of Dusty Springfield and the most comfortable gay space I've been in. I would give it more than 5 stars if I could. Bravo to everyone! I wish I were sitting at the bar as I write this!
Roosterfish is actually ONE creature. A Fish!
Excellent Place after your surfing, volleyballing or 10 mile bikepath ride along the Venice/Santa Monica Coast. You could still sense the late 1960s in the place when it was a straight bar and Venice Beach housed artists and flowerchildren. Ocean breezes waft thru and if you are open and cheerful you will find conversation. Really can't say enuf. One has to live it.
